When I was 12 or so I discovered skateboards. Specifically the Santa Cruz art and typography really made me want to be an artist! I sucked at skateboarding, though, so stuck with BMX and Freestyle bikes, (which also had a cool design aesthetic).
Designing crap like this now still brings me back to when I was young and drooling over cool bike magazine ads. I can still smell the magazine ink! My knees still feel the skateboard wrecks.
